Tips on how to use this exercise at home and at school.
Early maths concepts
In this exercise, the child has to search for the same or differently rotated picture.
Why is this exercise important?
Visual discrimination is an important skill and develops gradually from a child's early years. The child should be able to distinguish and be aware of details first, then horizontal and then vertical position. Passive and then active awareness of spatial orientation, and right-left orientation. Visual discrimination plays a pivotal role in the development of the child's perception. In this exercise, we start by looking for the same pictures, then look for a different or the same picture as a pattern, and finally identify the difference between the pictures.
Who is the exercise suitable for?
It generally belongs in preschool or early school play. In addition to concepts expressing spatial relationships, it also develops language skills such as precise reasoning.
Methodological recommendations
Either read the instructions aloud to the child, play them from the app or let the child read them by themselves.
The child should say how they understand the instruction, i.e. what to do, and what to notice. The app allows you to choose the type of instructions in the settings: Find the same picture, Find another picture or random instructions combining both types of instructions, which is a more challenging option. If the child describes aloud how they think and proceed, they learn to work systematically, think through the procedure and check the solution.
